I can't stand the phrase, "Yanks are a lock for playoffs". NOBODY is a lock before the season starts. It annoys me, mainly because it's the only team it's ever said about. I just want to see some incompetent writer write it and they DON'T make the playoffs. That would be a laugh.
It would annoy me for any other team too, all you Yankee fans.

I would say that when you spend like they do, you are 99.9% sure of making the playoffs. After that, nothing is guaranteed. For argument's sake, I will agree that, to a point, money can guarantee the playoffs but not a championship.
Well a team can do to its home park what it likes. That is part of the game. Iti sthe sam efor both sides and I hardly think they are worried about the likes of us fantasy players. Al ltheBeltran hoopla and hype an they are pushing the fences back. His homers go down and he gets closer to Bobby Abreu all the time. 1st round pick for this guy?
Most of us in the area assumed that once Gonzalez was signed, the Payton thing wasn't going to happen. That would be a little too much excitement in one off-season for the conservative Royals.
The Platoon situation didn't really worry me too much either. With Sweeney's physical problems and Stair's ability to play 1B, we pretty much assumed Stairs would be the Royal's 1B with Sweeney being the DH. Harvey would "ride the pine" most of the time which would be a good place for him.
Don't look for it to happen, but if it does and you are an AL central fan, "be affraid, be very affraid." (Isn't it fun to say that about the Royals again after 20 years of crap!)

you should know my stance on Beltran.
If not then my answer is no way is he a 1st round pick.
No one else agrees with me however

Still see him as a solid round 2 guy. I just think people see 40 Sbs with 30 Hrs and go nuts. That turns into 25 Hrs and 32 Sbs (not a far reach) and it does not look so nice round 1.
