Back in the day of one-ump-per-game, Tim Hurst once called a runner out at home for exactly that reason.
i used to love rickey until i went to a cards padres game about 7 years ago and watched rickey steal 3rd in the 9th inning with a 12-1 lead. wonder how he got to no.1 steals ever.......

Ricky wouldn't be realistically stealing 80 in this day in age. Too many squads playing for the 3 run HR -- and more and more ballparks being built towards that.
If Ricky was hitting around .300 stealing 50+ bags, jacking 20 HR's, scoring 120+ runs. No doubt a top 3 pick.

If Juan Pierre can steal 65 bases today, Rickey could easily steal 80.
