Nothing about this situation looks good.
Actually it could be just fine...it all depends on how bad the damage is in the elbow. I'd assume we'll hear something in the next day or two from his exam and that should shed a lot of light on the situation.
I'd say that right now is the time to gamble one way or the other on Frasor. If you really need a long-term closer then it might be a good idea to buy Frasor...if bad news comes back on BJ then this is likely the last day you can buy Frasor at a discount. If you've got Frasor and want to get a definite return on him (rather than the chance at a higher pay out with a chance at getting nothing at all) then now would be the time to sell on him...you might get more tomorrow but at the same time you might get nothing for him tomorrow if the news on Ryan is good.

The Blue Jays expect B.J. Ryan to miss 4-6 weeks due to a strained ligament in his left elbow.
Ryan avoids Tommy John surgery for now, but that still may be a possibility if he doesn't recover as hoped. Jason Frasor is set to occupy the closer's role in his absence. Shaun Marcum and Victor Zambrano are the fallbacks.

This is great news. Thank god.
Here's the pitch on the way, a swing and a belt! Left field! Way back! BLUE JAYS WIN!

I'm not relieved until I see I him pitching in my lineup again. I remember a similar kind of game with Gagne last year. "Just a month ... a couple more weeks ... still doesn't look good ... maybe after the All-Star break ... aw hell, let's just shut him down for the season."

Great news, but just like scmidty, I won't be relieved about this situation until he's back pitching like he can in save situations.
Troy Glaus also was just moved to the DL. I can't remember a season for the Blue Jays that's started off this poorly in terms of injuries.
