DeRosa signed for 13 million, so he will play.
Aramis will play.
Izturis is the D so he is cemented.
The OF is crowded.
But J Jones and Floyd wont play vs lefties.
So on those days DeRosa could move to OF with Murton at the other corner, leaving Theriot to start at 2b.

Derosa's making 4 a year. That's chump change in MLB today. Given DeRosa's crap career numbers, I could definetly see Theriot taking that job. He's looked great for a while now.

Pinella doesn't seem like the type of manager who's starting guys because the GM would want him to either.

are you guys serious?

you think he deserves are starting job because he's had a pretty good start?

everything i've heard about him has always been that he is a defensive type infielder and not the best bat, a utility type guy.

I agree on Pinella, and he is eager to jump start the offense, and Theriot might be the perfect solution in the leadoff spot. But DeRosa is not getting payed to sit on the bench, and his #s are fine.
Among 2b man only Hudson (ari) and Kinsler (tex) has more RBIs and only Kinsler has more HRs.
If only he could raise his avg. to .275

I could use some help here:

I know he hit .328 in 134 ABs last year. I know including today he's hitting .362. I know Lou's been batting him leadoff in Soriano's absence. And I'm pretty sure I know that if Lou takes him out of the leadoff spot, it will be a mistake.

This guy has done nothing but flat out hit.

I really like Theriot, and Id hate him to see to go to another team.
And I wonder what they gonna do with him next year, if little Patterson comes up as rumored.
I think the Cubs should trade DeRosa and J Jones right now.
They are pretty expensive to be benchwarmers.
But are they gonna do it? Or screw it up like they used to do. I not talking about Lou Brock. That was lightyears ago.
Im talkin about Josh Hamilton!
They took him in the rule 5, but they were forced to sell him to Cincinnati, cause they got a mess in OF.

The Cubbies are always gonna be the Cubbies.
The exception is Aramis Ramirez.

Who is a Pirate... (at least in my mind he still is...)

So has Theriot played his way into the lineup for 4/6 games a week yet?

I don't think the Cubs (right or wrong) ever had an interest in Hamilton. They worked the deal out to draft and trade him to the Reds for cash beforehand since the Cubs didn't have their eye on anyone for their 3rd overall pick and the Reds didn't want to lose him before their pick.

If so, it would be a demotion. He's been taking only one day off a week with Sori out, my guess is that he might take two now that he's back. He had been the least benched player over the last 10 days or so behind only Derrek Lee.

That’s not necessarily indicative of anything, though. Lou has been juggling his lineup quite a bit, and other lineup regulars like Barrett (sits to rest) and Ramirez & Soriano (injuries) have been out for different reasons. I can’t say that Riot is getting more playing time for any great reason other than coincidence.

It’s still April. If he’s getting more playing time than Ramirez and Soriano in June, let’s talk.
Keep wreves in General Talk in 2011!
