I just bolstered my minor league roster with a trade. It's an 18 team, 42 man roster league. I have been in the bottom 5 the past couple years and expect to be there again this year, so I traded my best player away.


I traded Carlos Lee, Franklin Morales, and Donald Veal (I drafted both in a FA draft last week) for Bruce, Gallardo, and Brignac.

I kinda got ripped off, but those guys will help me more than Lee would have.

With those 3 top 20 players I have the 4th best minors group, instead of being 12th.

You did get ripped off. Morales and Veal aren't slouches. You would need all three of those players to reach close to their estimated peak for the trade to be considered successful. And you won't know that for 4-5 years.

Well I certainly like the prospects u get MUCH better then what u gave up.
I would love to see your whole roster. I love building for the future(While maintaining a good club for now) myself.

Just a quick Question. When u say 42, how many of that are on the farm club.

I run a 20teamer, 33 man roster(8 prospects on the farm) league & hope to steadily increase it.

2nd team is from when the league was on Yahoo and had a max of 30 players. Basically it's just bench now.

We can have as many minors as we want.



Veal and Morales aren't slouches, but there are half a dozen pitchers half a year behind where those two guys are now that aren't on a team. Also, I have 3 of the 4 first picks in the amateur draft in June. All of those picks should be better than Veal and Morales. So in a couple months they will be replaced (though Gallardo is a lot better than them as well).

You definately upgrade the farm, but I wouldn't trade Lee for all of them.

The thing about building for the future is most of the time the prospects won't pan out.

This could be a good deal depending on your league. Is it a contract league?

No, it's not a contract.

I've done my research. Top 20 prospects usually become decent fantasy players at the least, and that's when they don't pan out.

Bruce even if he sucks should be better than Sledge, & Gallardo better than Fossum and Park.


It's also possible for me to trade those 3 guys for another Lee-type player, too
