Who's a more viable closer? Embree/Macdougal/Lance Carter?

MacDougal is the only guy worthy of closing on the KC roster even though he's a rookie. I hear he throws gas.

right now Boston is saying that they are going with a closer by commitee strategy, but Embree could separate himself from the pack and end up with the job. I think he'll end up with it, and then being in Boston will give him a lot more save opportunities than the other guys.

ya but the red sox bullpen isnt that good. of all the teams with winning records, boston is the only team with a bullpen with a losing record, 15-22. embree isnt all that valuable to me.

I dont think any of them are valuable, but Embree may win the Boston job, and if he does, im thinking 25 saves, good ERA and WHIP.

They are all major risks - I'd rank them:

MacDougal
Embree
Carter

Mainly because MacDougal is the ONLY guy - he'll get a long look and TB won't win many ...

Looper is a worth a try but he's as risky a pick as those guys.

Of the 4 mentioned, Looper will start off with the closer job, so it is his to lose. He's the best bet. If he loses the closer job, it will likely to be lost to either Vladimir Nunez or Tim Spooneybarger. If Looper is available, then both of the others should be available as well. Be ready to pick up either if Looper falters.

Embree is probably the next best reliable. I've seen some reports that have Embree getting the bulk of the Red Sox SVO's... even if they do claim to be going to bullpen by committee. He's not a bad pitcher and he has definite closer potential.

I don't know much about the others, which only means that they're not high profile, not that they aren't good pitchers.
