This being my first time, I have a lot of questions. I know a lot about baseball and matchups, so what I have been doing (since my league has no restrictions on moves or games played at position) is seeing what i need/lack in the upcoming days, and picking people off the waiver wire who I think can help me in that. Is that smart?
For instance, my league is Head to Head and I am winning in all offensive categories, but only tied in 1 pitching category, hence Chuck James and Jeremy Sowers. When my whip/era was high, I picked up Pat Neshek and Scot Shields so they could help that. I look for people with favorable matchups, and plug them in what i feel will be a hole on that day. I just dont know if I will constantly be chasing stats all year long by doing this and if I should have more pitchers than position players on my bench or vice versa. Please help as I am spending 3-4 hours a day online looking for the best case scenario for each day.
P.S. I am in a 10 category league. Ba Hr Rbi R Sb W K Sv Era Whip
