Scoreless first inning for Matsuzaka San. Got out of a jam after a leadoff hit by coaxing a double play ball.

Both Matsuzaka and Greinke are looking solid today.

Yes they are. Greinke has looked sharp, except for the bad fastball mistake he made to Manny in the first. Matsuzaka is not blowing anybody away with his fastball, he has topped out at 94mph on a handful of pitches, but he is at 92 on most. However he is changing speeds very well and hitting his spots on both sides of the plate when he needs to. Especially with the curve ball.

Not overly spectactular, but promising. The 8 k's are nice, but the Royals getting hits on him doesn't bode well for when he faces the Yanks or Jays. The good news is he isn't wild or high in the strikezone. 1 walk so far but who knows if he will play the 7th.

I agree. He's made some mistakes over the plate that better hitters would have capitalized on. He got a little lucky to get out of the inning after the DeJesus homer. A strike-em-out throw-em-out double play where the stealing runner was clearly safe but called out at 2nd. Next batter hits a double in the gap that would have tied the game. Then Matsuzaka got a favorable call on a pitch that looked outside to strike out Gordon and end the inning.

Dice-K still pitching in the 7th. Retires the Royals in order. He throws the ball effortlessly, looks like he could pitch all day, not showing any signs of fatigue.
