Some Serious Help Needed (whir)

Postby The River » Thu Apr 05, 2007 11:00 am

League Info: h2h, 10 teams, 6x6, non keeper

Roster:
C Paul LoDuca
1B David Ortiz
2B Howie Kendrick
3B Alex Rodriguez
SS Jimmy Rollins
OF Johnny Damon (inj.)
OF Juan Pierre
OF Adam Dunn
OF Michael Cuddyer
Util (1B) Paul Kornerko
Util (1B) Conor Jackson

DL (OF) Carlos Quentin
BN (2B/3B/SS) Julio Lugo
BN (2B) Josh Barfield
BN (3B) Alex Gordon
BN (C) Ramon Hernandez (inj.)

SP Roy Halladay
SP CC Sabathia
SP Chris Young
SP Scott Olsen
SP Kelvim Escobar
RP Trevor Hoffman
P (RP) J. J. Putz
P (RP) Adam Wainwright
P (SP,RP) Chuck James

BN (RP) Jorge Julio

Should I start trading my valuable backups now? Should I just drop Ramon and keep LoDuca there? How do I solve my Damon problem with Quentin on DL? I have people intersted in hot shot rookie Gordon even in this nonkeeper league. Also, with Lugo leading off he has to have some value. Plus, Barfield is looking more likley he will produce. Should I focus on trying to get a pitcher, for example, Cole Hamels or a Matt Cain or Scott Kazmir or should I try and get some offense with maybe a Matsui or Sheffield???

I would drop Ramon. He's hurt anyway and I don't see any reason to carry multiple catchers in a 10-team H2H league. I don't think Damon is going on the DL so I'm not sure you have a problem. If he does go on the DL and you only have one DL spot than I wouldn't hesitate to drop Quentin. I know he's a popular Cafe sleeper but he has questionable value in a 10-team league. I'd have to know the OF available on your wire to know for sure.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Dye is the best for you, but Rios is the most realistic. You could also get Kazmir or Hamels.

I'd recommend trying Dunn+Gordon for Dye.

I sent out Matsui and Sheff for now, either one I would love and the Sheff guy is high on Gordon, so who knows....then I'll try Rios and then Dye and then Delmon. Hopefully it ends with Sheff or Mats.
