Keeper league deal with prospects

Postby BoilerATC » Wed Apr 04, 2007 6:52 pm

My league setup is: 14 team 5x5 mixed league. We keep 8 major league players, 10 minor league players (less than 250 AB's or 10 starts as a SP) and 2 homegrown players (guys who stayed in your minor league system more than 2 months but have more than the minor league min). Here is my team:

C: Pierzynski, A.J. C CHW
1B: Delgado, Carlos 1B NYM
2B: Kent, Jeff 2B LA
3B: Jones, Chipper 3B ATL
SS: Jeter, Derek SS NYY
MI: Durham, Ray 2B SF
CI: Shealy, Ryan 1B KC
OF: Berkman, Lance 1B HOU
OF: Cuddyer, Michael RF MIN
OF: Sizemore, Grady CF CLE
OF: Young, Delmon RF TB
Util: Crisp, Coco CF BOS

Bench Iannetta, Chris C COL
Bench Mora, Melvin 3B BAL
Bench Vizquel, Omar SS SF
Bench Tulowitzki, Troy SS COL
Bench Winn, Randy RF SF

SP: Bedard, Erik SP BAL
SP: Billingsley, Chad SP LA
SP: Bonderman, Jeremy SP DET
SP: Hill, Rich SP CHC
SP: Webb, Brandon SP ARI
RP: Benitez, Armando RP SF
RP: Borowski, Joe RP CLE
RP: MacDougal, Mike M. RP CHW
RP: Reyes, Al RP TB
RP: Saito, Takashi RP LA

Bench Colon, Bartolo SP ANA
Bench Eddie Guardado RP CIN
Bench Rich Harden SP OAK

Minors Rowell, Billy 3B BAL
Minors Snider, Travis OF TOR
Minors Martinez, Fernando OF NYM
Minors Maybin, Cameron OF DET
Minors Votto, Joey 1B CIN
Minors Adenhart, Nick SP ANA
Minors Bailey, Homer SP CIN
Minors Mark Prior SP CHC
Minors Miller, Adam SP CLE
Minors Betances, Dellin SP NYA

So I think my team is deep at young SP's and OF. A guy in my league has David Ortiz and Frank Thomas, and needs a 1B. Here are his minor league players:
Andy Laroche
Sean Rodriguez
Ryan Braun (3B)
James Loney
Nelson Cruz
Lastings Milledge

Not too bad. I'm thinking of offering up something like this:

David Ortiz and Andy Laroche

Lance Berkman and Homer Bailey

The way I see it, I have a ton of young SP and won't be able to keep them all anyways. Chipper is getting old and Rowell is a few years from contributing, if he pans out. Is this trade too stacked for me (he has to move Thomas or Ortiz and needs a 1B).

I like the deal for you. Homer Bailey is good, but lets not forget he is pitching in an extreme hitters park. I like LaRoche to develop in to a 25 HR guy.

I would do it ;-D

I would pass. There is not much difference between Berkman and Ortiz, and Bailey is definitely worth more then the difference.

Totally agree ;-D
Just traded BButler, BWood & JLoney for Mark Teixeira, Ryan Theriot & Renyel Pinto in a DYNASTY LEAGUE. Big gamble I know!

I can only keep 8 players though. My pitching staff right now has: Webb, Bonderman, Harden, Bedard, Hill, Billingsley, Adam Miller, and Nick Adenhart. My 3B is Chipper, and he might not stay healthy very long. I have Rowell but he is 3 years away. Laroche would step in next year for me. If I keep hearing no from you guys I'll probably not do it though. What if I swapped Bailey with Adam Miller? Or Adenhart?
