i play in a 5 x 5 keeper league. we get to keep six players for the upcoming season. this year i am trying a new strategy, that is , keeping 5 starting pitchers and 1 position player. i have all my draft picks for the upcoming year. planning on drafting one stud reliever early and then all bats. any thoughts?????roster as of 12/23/03 consists of six keepers
josh beckett - rhp
randy johnson - lhp
greg maddux - rhp
johan santana - lhp
bartolo colon - rhp
carlos beltran - of
Is the league H2H or roto? Also, your entire roster would be helpful.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
other roster notables are:
carlos delgado - 1b
bill mueller - 3b
jay gibbons - of
chipper jones - of
jaun encarnacion - of
alex cintron - ss
carlos lee - of
mike cameron - of
ben sheets - rhp
miguel batista - rhp
Delgado is a keeper. No way I'd toss him back. Chipper is worth consideration as well.

I do not think it is going to help you to set an amount of a certain position that you want to keep each year. You just happen to have some really good pitchers this offseason, but you may have better offensive players a few years down the line.
Why not just make things easy every year and try to keep the best players that you have?
Keeping pitching around is always a good strategy, but I don't think the starters you have warrant throwing Delgado back in the pot. I would also consider retaining Chipper Jones.
Here are the 6 I would keep:
1. The Big Unit
2. Bartolo Colon
3. Josh Beckett
4. Carlos Beltran
5. Carlos Delgado
6. Johan Santana
