How's this "tiered keeper team" so far?

Postby someone25 » Tue Dec 23, 2003 5:23 am

The settings:
Hitters - HR, RBI, R, SB, AVG, OPS, K (7)
Pitchers - W, L, SV, HLD, K, ERA, WHIP (7)

The number of players:
24 total players with a line up of - C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF, Util...SP, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P, P, P and 3 DL spots

Number of keepers:
6 total keepers with 1 franchise hitter, 1 franchise pitcher and 4 different tiered keepers - I'll identify the picks with a roman numeral to show which tier they were selected in...I can take more lower tiers if I want to give up a previous tier...such as 2 tier keepers w/no tier i keeper.

Team so far:
C - Ivan Rodriguez (I)
1B - Paul Konerko (III)
2B - Luis Castillo (I)
3B - Eric Chavez (I)
SS - Kazuo Matsui (III)
LF - Albert Pujols (I)
CF - Corey Patterson (II)
RF - Magglio Ordonez (I)
U -

SP - Barry Zito (I)
SP - Wade Miller (II)
SP - Jarrod Washburn (II)
RP - Eddie Guardado (II)
Rp - Mike MacDougal (II)
Rp -
P - C.C. Sabathia (II)
P - Jake Peavy (III)
P -

Any thoguhts as to what/who I should look at next?

A power hitter and a solid closer. Mac is risky and Guardado doesn't have the job yet but he will get holds for now.

Yeah, I'd rank a top closer above the power hitter. You have good speed but some more power can't hurt.

And you always can take some risks and pick potential closers during the season, but you need some safe saves just to be in the running...
