I am actually thinking about just giving up saves altogether. I have been trying to work a deal for a middle of the road closer, but all people want is offense or one of my stud SPs. Should I just pick up stud middle RP's like Shields and types like that, and have nice K, ERA, and WHIPs. Or is giving up on a catergory completely in only a 5X5 league too much??? Let me know what you think.
I wouldn't just yet. What I might do is get rid of Schmidt for a decent closer, and then reevaluate after a month or so. However, I can think of worse moves than giving up saves for stud middle relievers.
Questions: Are Broxton, M. Gonzalez, or Wheeler available? I think all three are likely to close at some point this year. You may want to stash one if you can get one.
She said always remember never to trust me She said that the first night that she met me She said "there's gonna be a time when I'm gonna have to go with whoever's gonna get me the highest."
I don't think it's crazy at all to punt on saves.
At this point I wouldn't trade away a stud starter to get a closer. I would sit tight with the guys you have.
i dont think its a good idea to totally punt one category. if you do that and get 0 saves someone can put a closer in there for 1 day and beat you in that cat as opposed to you having someone like gonzales and or shields who will get you some saves here and there so they cant use as much strat against you to win....if that makes sense. i wouldnt do anything yet since it seems like other teams want a bit too much from you for a closer
10 team,H2H,5x5 C-Montero 1B-A.Gonzalez 2B-Utley 3B-Longoria SS-Reyes 1B/3B-Morneau 2b/SS-K.Jonhson OF-J.Upton,CarGo,Pierre UTL-Rasmus P-Hamels,Nolasco,W.Rodriguez,Garza,Wagner,Aardsma BN-Span,Slowey,Liriano,E.Santana,Gregg, Pelfrey, Street DL-B. Anderson
its definately early on and i wouldnt punt the category all together but i wouldnt panic to much either. Schmidt can probably get you a pretty solid closer if you want to deal him.
I dont like standing around lookin up, and I think thats you are doing by not even trying. It looks like you have the left side of an infield sittin that should have some value in a trade, put both up in a trade offer for the likes of a Borowski type player good team very little expectations, but knowing he will get the job done, then you also have a open spot to grab from FA/WW. You also should be looking for another OF as baldelli is ALREADY hurt(gimpin down to first)nice team though, gl
If there is baseball in heaven!!!! Be very aware of the starting lineup

in an h2h league, i think it can be ok to punt a cat or two if you are sure that you will make up for the difference in dominance in the remaining cats.
i agree with the other guy. send schmidt over for a closer. there's bound to be someone with an abundance.
Keep your rotation intact. (By the way, isn't there someone better than Cabrera on the waiver wire?)
I would trade one of your shortstops. Choose Hall or Renteria, but send one of them off for a solid, if unspectacular, closer. Then, just keep track of the closer carousel and make some good pickups.
you might be able to grab some closers off the FA later on in the season; theres usually a few every year that can give you a good amount of saves with decent numbers.
