JUST Drafted - What adjustments should I make???

Postby redsoxsucker » Mon Apr 02, 2007 11:47 am

Just drafted in a 10 team standard 5X5 league. I tried to wait on pitching after reading a lot about how much SP was available late. I THINK I did ok given how long I waited, and hopefully my offense makes up for it.

We do have 2 DL spots also, so I was not hesitant to take a couple injury risks (Harden, Thomas, etc.).

Is it good? Great? Does it suck? What are your thoughts on this team and how would you make it better?

I listed what round each player was picked in as well just to show value/lack of vallue.

C Hernandez, Ramon C BAL (R21)
1b Teixeira, Mark 1B TEX (R2)

That team looks pretty good, in my opinion...SP might be a little weak, but, for where you got those guys, you got great value - I really like that Maddux late pick, too (I just missed him in the last round of our league!

i can't believe some ppl on here...that SP staff should probably end up top 5 in your league...i mean Cain, Hamels, Harden (if healthy) and olsen are all basically locks for 200+ K years...then you have Bush and maddux to back those up, if clemens comes back which we all know he will he will add another demention to your team...don't worry about your pitching (besides i don't think your really have a need to carry 4 RP, and wagner, yes dominates, but was taken way too early...i always along with alot of others use the rule of no RP before at the very highest RD 7 or later)....then the bats...wow looks ream nice, nice snag on ramon in RD21...only thing i see wrong with the bats are CPatt and a really unbalanced bench, you just have speed, no power bat or a bat with some pop to back up anyone...i would def. look into trading CPatt, maybe combo him with Valverde or one of your other closers, maybe borowski to step up your OF presense...other then that your team looks like at least a top 3, very good draft IMO, with a few tweaks you could be a force in your league

Great thanks to soto for the sweet sig!...

I think you have a solid team as well, your batting is balanced but I think the only thing you're really lacking is a #1 SP who is guaranteed to do well.

Great points on the lack of Bench depth..thanks for the idea about packaging a speedster with a closer...makes a lot of sense.

I hear you on Wagner too early; I just really wanted 1 of the top 5 after getting kicked aourn in saves last year waiting unti lthe 9th round for Gagne/Benitez (you can imagine how well that worked out for me). The closer run started and with 3 gone right behind me and 12 picks after me I wanted in...but a good point.

As far as no #1 SP, clearly that's true, but I let that happen to try and build the Offense...in a few weeks I'll see how well that strategy is working...

How good a player do you think you could get for Valverde and Patterson? Or Patterson/Borowski? Or Valverde/Crisp? something like that...

Your SP is fine, don't listen to anyone that tells you otherwise.

Very good balanced team. I think you have a ton of speed on the bench, so I wouldn't worry about making any major moves until you see how things pan out into the end of May.
