My trade was vetoed in Yahoo Public League... what next?

Postby FantasySportsMaven » Sun Apr 01, 2007 10:48 pm

After making offers and counteroffers with another owner in a Yahoo H2H Public league, we agreed on a trade and it was supposed to go through today. Instead, I got an email notifying me that the deal was vetoed by a vote of the owners.

I have posted the trade in the Trade forum and no one thought there was any reason to veto the deal. FYI, here is the deal:
I give up Bonds, Beltre, Crisp and Pedro Martinez
and
I get Markakis, Duncan, Youkilis and Wainwright.

So, I emailed the other owners in the league and asked them to please tell me why they vetoed my trade?

Here is the response I got back from one owner:
Because.....

We can. Enough said. Kind of like a democracy...our vote counts...don't act like a stupid control freak. The rules are the rules and they were inacted on your stupid ass. Power to the OWNERS.

I realize I am probably dealing with idiots on a public league, but is there anything I can do about this via Yahoo? Not only does his post on the league site violate Yahoo's posting rules, but I also now think this guy has more than one team in our league?

How should I proceed?

not much you can do, but be sure to veto every single one of his trades

I suggest finding a league here at the Cafe next year; public leagues never seem to turn out right. I would propose the trade again. If that doesn't go through, there's really nothing to do. (But I wouldn't veto other trades out of spite, doesn't really help anything.) Hope it works out.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I went ahead and contacted Yahoo and reported Indy Red for his insulting and obscene post on our yahoo league site and asked that either he be removed from the league or that I be removed. I also suggested that Indy Red might have more than one team in our league, and that Yahoo should check that out too.

In the meantime, I got a second response from another owner (supposedly) who parroted the first one, without giving me any reason for the veto.

its part of fantasy baseball. people are stupid. for instance, people in my league call each other to make sure my trades get vetoed. Just make another offer. Obviously your league is full of idiots. I would cut all my players and leave the league, especially since they have no clue how to play.
