Thoughts on Slamming Sammy

Do you guys think Sosa can have a good year as DH for the Rangers in the 5 hole? Would he be worth a utility or backup OF spot?

But really, I just don't buy into the Sosa hype. I know he's hitting the ball well this spring, but seriously, this is Sammy Sosa we're talking about. I dont think he has anything left, and I don't think he'll do much for fantasy owners this season.

Sosa hit over 60 HR three times. Corked bats and illegal substances aside, he was (or maybe still is) a talented hitter.

I could see 30 + HR with a .250-.260ish average as his ceiling. That is if he doesn't have any violent sneezing accidents and keeps himself healthy. He's only 38, and Giambi bounced back from the juice to become a 250ish hitter capable of 30+. Not that Sosa juiced, just making a random observation.

Sosa hasn't been really productive in 2 or 3 years now. Last year he didn't even play, 2 years ago he did basically nothing, and 3 years ago his career started to decline even though he did hit 35 bombs. I just don't think he has anything left in him. He's been steadily declining for years now and I just don't see him making an impact in fantasy this year.
