Who will be the first closer to lose his job?

Postby pope » Sat Mar 31, 2007 10:36 pm

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I as a simple question: Who will be the first closer to lose his job this year? I am not counting closer by committees or whatever it is that the Reds are doing.

This year seems an especially terrible year for closers, so there are a ton of options.

I'm gonna go with Dempster. Unreliable + New Manager + Pressure to be good right away + other decent options in the 'pen = very poor job security.

I vote Dempster, he just isn't very good and they have other options in the pen like Howry and Wood whenever he gets healthy. In another poll, who will be the first person to note that "lose" is spelled wrong in the poll title? ;-7

Marginal Talent + Capable Backups + My Fingers Crossed = Todd Jones

voted for Todd Jones, Zumaya will be closing soon than later i think. Torres was a close second, I see Capps being the closer of that team.

Sorry about that. There was a limited number of slots that the system would let me use as options in this poll. So, I had to remove one crappy closer: It was Saito.

To me the race is between Lidge and Gagne, with Gagne already winning I guess by starting the season on the DL.
