Consider Mike Sweeney. He's 30, not quite prime years but not over the hill especially in this day and age. Injury prone? To say the least. 483 and 392 AB's the last 2 years.
But, a closer look at his 1st half numbers last year, numbers he compiled before he got hurt, say that this guy has plently left in the tank.
1st half numbers last year:
215 AB's
40 Runs
12 HR
50 RBI
.321 BA
.443 OB
.982 OPS
Pretty damn strong numbers in really less then a full 1/2 season AB's. Sure he is an injury risk, but if he can get back to a healthy 500-600 AB's I think he may be able to give us another solid season or two. Add in the fact that both Chicago and Minnesota seem to be cleaning house, and this may be the only chance KC has at winning a division. If they are in the hunt, they hold Beltran for that title run.
Opinions?

i like sweeney. he always keeps your BA up and its hilarious to see him bloody mad. he did well, as did his team in the first half. although ibanez is gone, i think a bounceback isnt too much to ask or hope for
there shouldnt be any doubts about sweeney.. hes always counted on for doubles, avg, good ratio, and rbis .. his onmly problem is he always gets some kind of injury that lingers.. too bad cuz hed be atop the fantasy first baseman if he didnt
He should put up good numbers while he's healthy. Now how many at bats that will be is the question.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
As long as his neck holds out next year...I look for good numbers from him...
