Would Josh Hamilton deserve Comeback Player of the Year???

Postby DbacksRback » Fri Mar 30, 2007 6:58 pm

This is from a small debate in another thread. If Hamilton has a great season, does he deserve this award. I know about his amazing story and hopes he playes incredible, but i dont think he would deserve the award. He was never in the pros and has nothing to comeback from. Thats just my opinion and im sure there are amny opposing views...lets hear em.

If he has a great season I don't see why not. Can be an inspiration for a lot of trouble kids out there.

To comeback means you were already good and make it back after a drop. All he did was quit drugs because MLB told him so. A comeback player would be these examples: a) Fausto Carmona winning 18-20 games as a starter after getting blown up as a reliever last year. b) Sammy Sosa hitting 30 HRs after missing a year and being a alleged steroid user and c) Rick Ankiel,Prior, or Wood having excellent years

I don't think Fausto Carmona quite meets your self-imposed guidelines. ;-)

Yes, exactly. I don't see any way he would be eligible. To "come back" somewhere means you had to be there sometime in the first place.

At best he might be eligible for Rookie of the Year.
