What about Carlos Zambrano...if I remember right he's struggled early both of the last 2 years.

Game notes from last year's Sox/Indians opener:

CLEVELAND PITCHER C.C. SABATHIA HAS LEFT THE GAME IN THE BOTTOM OF THE THIRD INNING WITH A STRAINED RIGHT ABDOMINAL MUSCLE.

He's my pick.

Sheets LAD
Haren @Sea
Lowe @Mil
Patterson Fla?

If I'm not mistaken Derek Lowe has been rocked in 2 consecutive openings...

Sabathia owns us. He may not get a win, but I doubt it'll be a terrible outing.

I'm going with Gil Meche against the Red Sox. :-b

April 4 2006 @ LAD 5ER in 5IP

April 5 2005 @ FL 6ER in 1.2IP

this year he opens at philly against myers. i dont think i'd want to bet on it happening three times though.

I say it happens again. Smoltz is 0-5 when he starts on opening day, and he hates Citizens Bank Park to begin with.
