What is the opinion of Woody Williams? Was last year a one year wonder? I have him on my team and I am trying to move him with no luck.

Just getting peoples opinion on this potential one year wonder.

i think williams would make a nice 4th or 5th starter on a team.

Take it from the older and wiser KDOGG ;-D

i would classify him as a bust next year. injury prone, old, and i dont think suppan will take that much pressure off

Id draft him in the late rounds but he will probably be drafted before then by somebody based on last year's stats

he was golden for me last year, but i have a bad feeling about him this year. Especially how he finished last year.

i have every confidence in him next year. looking at his numbers reveals that he was clearly over pitched in the first half of the year resulting in a subpar second half. he hit a new career high in innings in 2003 and was amongst the league leaders in pitches per game. the cards bullpen is improved and larussa is keen to avoid a similar situation in 2004 with woody and morris as well, so i consider it highly unlikely he will be misused next year. he will be a good pitcher to have next year.

I have zero problems drafting Woody next year. He tired out toward the end of last year, but JD explained that above. :-)

you know..if you guys were talking about a rookie or even a 2nd year guy I could understand. But Woody is going to be 37 in August and has been pitching in the big leagues for 10 years now. He finished really strong in his last three games so I don't think it was fatigue. It'll be interesting to see how he starts out this next year. I might take a chance on him in the later rounds but i'm not wasting an early pick on him until he puts two good seasons together.

He did have a career high in innings but he faltered in just about every month after May. He'd have a gem one run game and turn around and give up 7 runs the next game. Just not consistant enough for me yet.
