Wow, long story. Everyone might want to take a restroom break and grab a drink to read all of this one:
Associated Press SEATTLE -- The Mariners on Thursday agreed to terms on a four-year contract with right-fielder Ichiro Suzuki.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team.
Suzuki, 30, has had more than 200 hits in each of his first three major league seasons. He has a career .328 average with 121 stolen bases.
Mariners manager Bob Melvin calls him the best right-fielder in baseball.
Last season Suzuki hit .312, went to the All Star game for a third time and collected his third straight Gold Glove.
Lol.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
I assume it's for about 35-40 Million or so. What do you think?
My guess is $36 million.

I have seen 2 sets of published projections for Ichiro next year. They are:
110 Runs, 11 HR, 64 RBI, 29 SB, .305 BA
103 Runs, 10 HR, 66 RBI, 32 SB, .338 BA
Now neither are bad, and the 2nd set is pretty good with the .338 BA, but neither stat line impresses to the point of picking him on average with the 32nd pick in a draft. Why would you waste a 3rd rounder on this guy when you could get a Furcal much later. Furcal will score the same or better, hit as many homers, knock in a few less maybe, steal the same, and bat .010 or so lower, but the guys plays SS, a much tougher spot to fill.
I guess what I am saying is that this Ichiro guy is overrated.
