Sign 16 hr 83 rbi .265 Spiezo at 3 million while 6.725 million Cirillo is still on the team.
Sign Guardado for 4 million while Sasaki making 7 million is still on the team.
Attempt to trade for Vizquel making 5.75 million to replace a Guillen who is making 1 million and is like 20 years younger and not coming off of knee surgeries.
Sign Ibanez for 4.4 million, Winn for 3.5 million.
Your team offensively collapsed the past two years and didn't make the playoffs. You (attempted) to spent like 18 million and added 0 guys with 20 hr, 0 guys with 100 rbi, added 0 starting pitching and claim they can't stretch budget. I think the Mariners need to spend 50,000 on a decent cpa to explain that 28 million divided 6 ways is still spending 28 million.
and lost the 2 draft picks for signing Ibanez before the arbitation deadline.
Each of these signings is pretty suspect. Not sure if Bavasi felt behind, and that he needed to do something, but each of these are pretty questionable in my book
If I were playing third base and my mother were rounding third with the run that was going to beat us, I'd trip her. Oh, I'd pick her up and brush her off and say, 'Sorry, Mom,' but nobody beats me.

They are trying not to make bad moves. They could have signed tejada if they wanted, but they just don't offer contracts longer then 3 years.
They are so affraid they will get another cirillo they aren't willing to take risks. I just can't blame them, though I do think they are targeting the wrong people. Spizieo isn't worth it, Ibanez might be, Vizquel was a brain fart, I wouldn't be suprised if they lied about the physical.
Most likely, they are trying to clear money for the big numbers Ichiro is asking for (apparently over 10m a year).
Rumor is that Sasaki just might go back to Japan............

You have to score at least 1 run to win.

Eddie was a good signing, as was Shiggy. It could be the best pen around. It's possible Kaz goes back to Japan. At any rate, there was concern over Kaz 3rd arm surgery. Getting those rp allows them to start Soriano. They signed Speizo to play 3b. Cirillo is gone. If they can't trade Cirillo, they will cut him and eat the 15 mil. Seattle wanted Miggy. They werent prepared to go 6 years 72 mil. They don't like giving more then 4 years. Cameron was too spendy, so getting Ibanez was to replace Cammy. They are still trying to move Garcia for a bat. They didn't hit a hr (big free agent), but in return they didn't ship off good players for suspect prospects, like a few teams have done.
Lied about a physical? Lol. Omar lives by Seattle in offseason. He is very upset, deal fell through.
