10 team 6x5 league includes triples and holds, excludes whip

Since there were 6 hitting categories i didn't draft pitchers until late in the draft. since we count holds i didn't value closers as much as i usually would. Is this solid thinking? Here's my team, let me know what you think. I'll be happy to offer my thoughts on others' teams too. Thanks.

So we're clear, the cats are R, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, AVG - W, SV, K, HLD, ERA

C - R. Hernandez
1b- J. Giambi
2b- R. Weeks
SS- J. Reyes
3b- G. Atkins
IF- O. Cabrera
OF- C. Lee
OF- I. Suzuki
OF- J. Dye
Util- H. Matsui
BN- E. Byrnes
BN- C. Tracy
BN- J. Edmonds

SP- J. Bonderman
SP- J. Verlander
SP- E. Bedard
RP- J. Putz
RP- J. Borowski
RP- S. Shields
P- J. Rincon
P- S. Linebrink
P- J. Julio
BN- A. Wainwright
BN- R. Harden
BN- K. Escobar
BN- P. Martinez

Thanks again.

I like your starting pitching, but having Bonderman and Verlander kinda scare me... Just that feeling that either may slump, and if you start both and the team struggles, it may cost you a week...

Like the holds, and think that they can be better for you.. Shields is solid, and there's talk in LA that the Angels will not keep both Shields and K-Rod, and they just extended Shields.

I think Borowski is gonna be a 40 save man this year, but i think if you can dump Putz, do it... Mariners pitching is notorious for injuries after showing flashes.... maybe a guy like Rafeal Soriano would be perfect, with holds in mind... Wickman wont be there long me thinks...

Your bats are solid... I think that your position players are solid...

That's my opinion...

Saves tend to be more valuable than HLDs because closers typically have lower ERAs than set-up guys, so while there is value in accumulating HLDs, too often they come at a cost to your ERA number.

Your bats are strong, you just carry alot of risk with the closer position (what else is new?). I'd snag Hermanson if he hasn't been claimed already, and be prepared to spend much of your season surfing the wire for closers. My favorite down and dirty closer-watch site is: http://www.theinsidepitch.com/Closer_Watch.html

Why you guys don't just do a regular roto with whip instead of holds and 3b is beyond me...but I digress.

Good looking offense. I'd trade Dye while his value is as high as it will ever be. Maybe you could package him with Verlander and get a Stud OF in return?

You have the 2007 American League Cy Young in Rich Harden.

I've never played with holds before, so I can't really speak to that.

Good luck!
