Report: Gagne to begin year on disabled list


The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Eric Gagne will begin the season on the disabled list and rejoin the active roster on April 13.

Gagne isn't injured, but the Rangers feel he needs to get a few more innings in before he'll be ready to close games. Akinori Otsuka will get saves in his place, and either Wes Littleton or Frank Francisco could claim the open bullpen spot. That the Rangers felt they had to take this step could be an indication that Otsuka will occupy the closer's role for longer than two weeks. Mar. 29 - 2:14 pm et

This sounds like Otsuka could be closing for a bit.

Where does this put him now in the Closer Ranks? Top 10?
Considering Gagne can never supplant him of course....
