Beckett is better for several reasons. Beckett is 23. Santana is 25. Beckett has better stuff and Better control. Beckett is also in the National League, and plays in the 3rd best Pitchers park. Living in Ft. Myers gives me a unique perspective on each of the two. I go to Marlins games so I have seen Beckett in person, and the Twins spring train in Ft. Myers so ditto for Santana. Bottom line is that Santana is a good pitcher with nasty stuff, but he's overhyped because he's a lefty. At last check, you dont get points in fantasy for being a lefty. Beckett: Younger, better stuff, better head, better park, Better player.

I'd go with Santana. I think Beckett has more potential, but he has yet to harness it. Santana has proven how dominating he can be, and not just because he is a lefty, he can be just plain dominating.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I say Santana is a little bit more of a sure thing, but Beckett has more potential.

Santana for me too, just by a small margin. Only reasons are that I see Beckett w/ more chance for downside and wildness. AND that Beckett will be over-hyped from his playoff/world series performance. Seems like guys that really shine on that stage get way over-valued, and sometimes struggle a bit the next year.

Beckett isn't THAT guy, but I just see a little bit less possible downside w/ Santana.

If Beckett wouldn't have done what he did in the WS you wouldn't even be asking this question. Santana is a better pitcher. Beckett may have more potential but Santana is proven right now. Beckett is over-hyped. He is a good pitcher but if he hadn't pitched in the WS we wouldn't be having this argument and you wouldn't be considering Josh.
