ETA on Bruce?

Postby Is_it_the_shoes? » Thu Mar 29, 2007 12:22 pm

Super prospect Jay Bruce, When do you expect he gets the big call up? Hes supposed to be the heir to Griffey and with Griffey theres always question marks around his health. Their team/OF isnt great, so how long till they call him up and let him learn on the job? Its not like Maybin, where there are some great/capable major leaguers already on the roster.

Whats a realistic ETA and a best situation ETA?

Best: Sometime in August or September

Realistically: 2008

Laugh if you want but Josh Hamilton's development will play a part as well. I With Griffey moving to RF if that can keep him healthier the Reds won't get rid of Dunn and if Hamilton can contribute at CF (That is assuming Freel keeps throwing himself around and getting injured) 2008 is probably the earliest Bruce would make it to the big club.

That is also dependant on what he does in AA and/or AAA. He hasn't progressed past Single A Dayton yet.

Those are the key things here. Id be surprised to even see him b4 2008. Maybe even sept 2008.
Just traded BButler, BWood & JLoney for Mark Teixeira, Ryan Theriot & Renyel Pinto in a DYNASTY LEAGUE. Big gamble I know!

Herbal Tea? The boy is from Texas, the reds ought to call him up for a shot of Whiskey.

According to Lousiville Manager Rick Sweet, Bruce was assigned to his AAA club.

i noticed that manage comment as well. interesting, having him jump AA straight to AAA. sounds like the fast track to me. if theyre really pushing him like that (and he has continued success) i dont think a sept callup is out of the question at all.
