Is his ceiling higher than Daniel Bard?


Anythoughts of the Sox young pitcher? Do you think he can succeed on the major league level? Comparisons?

His ceiling is not higher than Bard. But he is much closer than Bard.

Buchholz is a 2-3 starter on a good team. I do think he will be a good pitcher at the major league level.


Bard has the stuff to be an ace starter or shut-down closer, but he is further behind a normal big college program pitcher normally would be at this point in his career.

Yes and Bard much like JJeffries throws very hard but has serious control issues at this stage of his young career.

If he gets over the hump as Dude says hes an Ace in the making.

Bard has the higher cieling but that doesnt count against Buc. I'd take Buc over Bard for the simple fact he displays better control and has better makeup in my eyes.

he isnt a frontline guy but i would take him as a 3 maybe a 2 in the future.
