Kenny Rogers to 15 Day DL

Postby sox 06 » Thu Mar 29, 2007 11:21 am

The Detroit Tigers have placed left-handed pitcher Kenny Rogers on the 15-day disabled list with a tired arm, the team announced Thursday.

Rogers' stay on the DL will be retroactive to March 25.

Rogers finished 17-8 with a 3.84 ERA in 34 outings (33 starts) during his first season with the Tigers. He won all three of his starts in the 2006 playoffs and did not allow a run in 23 innings of work.

In other news, left-hander Bobby Seay has returned to Detroit's major league camp after being assigned to minor league camp on Monday.

havent heard much about it locally, but it sounds like he just needed some extra time to get in game shape

...or he could just be too old

So now the rotation looks like:

Bonderman
Verlander
Maroth
Robertson
Miner

Correct?

Does Bonderman's value increase now?

No?

For right now (Rogers is only expected, or should I say hoped, to miss one start) its:
Bonderman
Chad Durbin
Verlander
Maroth
Roberston

Not dead solid on Maroth/Robertson slottings, could be inverse.

Not a good was to start the season. It was a stretch that Rogers had enough tar left in the tank to repeat last season's sucess. If he goes down and Verlander doesn't come out of his funk, their vaunted starting 5 looks a lot shakier.

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the so called "tired arm" might be induced by a blood clot in Rogers' arm.

Regardless, for a rubber armed pitcher who has been as injury free as he has been thoughout his career, this is horrible news.

My gut feel is that he misses more than just the 1 start they are talking about.
