I'd have to pick Giles. He's just too good a hitter and probably usually is more valuable than Ichrio. You can get your steals somewhere else like Luis Castillo or someone else. Giles is just too good to pass up.

I know that the AVG/SB combo in Ichiro is tempting when you have those guys, but I still say go with Giles. Besides, you can always trade power for speed later with that core ...

I disagree completely. Yes, Castillo could get you steals (if you could get him) but he would kill you in RBIs. Ichiro is a clutch hitter who plays on a good team and can drive in runs. Castillo is an on again, off again player that plays on a bad team. Castillo is no substitute.
Ichiro can virtually win steals and cement avg and runs for you. Giles is very good (I've had him on my team the last 4 years) but I think that I would go with Ichiro here.
Plus, teams are always looking for sbs and maybe you could sell off Ichiro for some younger keepers sometime in the season.

I've always liked Ichiro and haven't really cared for Giles. It seems you have lots of power and Ichiro scores a ton of runs and gets the steals. I say go with Ichiro. Think about his avg with runners in scoring position. It's sick.
I would take Giles hands down. Unless Ichiro steals 40 plus, his value drops. And because he fatigued out last year, he might run less to stay fresh. His sb dropped from 56 to 31, quite a drop.

I don't have compelling reasoning for either one but I must say that as long as he's not any worse than he was last year (which I highly doubt he will be) then Ichiro will be more valuable than Giles. I like Giles a lot and I'm not a big Ichiro fan but he is the better fantasy player.
