Owner leaving for Iraq, wants to stay with league; ADVICE!

Postby scotty5150 » Wed Mar 28, 2007 12:09 pm

I have a bit of a problem.

I have a very dedicated team owner who happens to be in the National Guard. He just got shipping orders to leave for Iraq for a six-month tour; he'll be leaving in late April.

He doesn't want to permanently resign from the league, but he obviously will not be able to fulfill his league obligations in 2007.

My suggestion to him was to recruit a close friend or relative to "babysit" his team this summer, and he could resume control of the team in the offseason when he's back in the States. However, he said there's no one either willing or capable of handling that responsibility.

I'm hoping to get some suggestions here for how to handle the situation. I really don't want to force him to resign because he's being called to serve our country, but there's obviously a conflict with allowing someone else in the league to manage the team in the interim; add to that the fact that this manager happens to be in my division.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I'm looking for any solution. Thanks, guys.

Try the classifieds here. I'm sure someone qualified would be more than willing to help out a soldier.

I've thought about doing that. And yes, I've filled many league openings from the Cafe classifieds. I wasn't sure, however, whether someone would be willing to step in for only a year.

I'll do it. I'm down to only two leagues this year, so I have room to help a fellow military man out. I'm a vet myself. PM me the details.
