I have a bit of a problem.
I have a very dedicated team owner who happens to be in the National Guard. He just got shipping orders to leave for Iraq for a six-month tour; he'll be leaving in late April.
He doesn't want to permanently resign from the league, but he obviously will not be able to fulfill his league obligations in 2007.
My suggestion to him was to recruit a close friend or relative to "babysit" his team this summer, and he could resume control of the team in the offseason when he's back in the States. However, he said there's no one either willing or capable of handling that responsibility.
I'm hoping to get some suggestions here for how to handle the situation. I really don't want to force him to resign because he's being called to serve our country, but there's obviously a conflict with allowing someone else in the league to manage the team in the interim; add to that the fact that this manager happens to be in my division.
Thoughts? Suggestions? I'm looking for any solution. Thanks, guys.
