have the pirates offically named a closer yet?? if not who might it be? capps, torres??

torres with capps lookin right over his shoulder. i can easily see capps the closer sometime this year but prob wont be for opening day

I don't think Capps can win the job in 2007. Torres could lose it, but only by pitching poorly. Torres is DEFINITELY the opening day closer, and will be the closer all year unless he pitches badly.

Like it's been said alreay, Torres will close to start the season.

coaches dont like unproven closers.
they take the guy with the track record, even if they are bad as Dempster and old as Yoda.
great examples are in Florida, Atlanta, Chicago Cubs, San Fran, Cleveland, Texas, Detroit....
you get the picture.
There are some young closers now, who were trusted with the job not out of neccesity, but not many. And not when a proven guy was closing.
Just remember F-ROD was behind Percival, and even Rivera was behind Wetteland before they left for another team, clearing the way for them.
