Got screwed on draft day, had to auto pick.

This is a 12 team H2H league with 6 keepers. My keepers entering the draft were Pujols, Berkman, V-Mart, Peavy, Felix Hernandez, and Verlander. The commish made a last minute change to when the draft would be held and I was not able to attend since I had a prior arrangement. I was forced to use the auto draft on Sportsline.

We start 9 bats, and 5 SPs and 3 RPs.

Batting scoring
1B - Singles 2 points
2B - Doubles 3 points
3B - Triples 4 points
BB - Walks (Batters) 2 points
CS - Caught Stealing -1 point
CYC - Hitting for the Cycle 15 points
E - Errors -1 point
GDP - Ground Into Double Plays -1 point
HP - Hit by Pitch 1 point
HR - Home Runs 5 points
IB - Intentional Walks 1 point
KO - Strikeouts (Batter) -1 point
OFAST - OF Assists 2 points
R - Runs 2 points
RBI - Runs Batted In 2 points
SB - Stolen Bases 2 points

Pitching scoring
B - Balks -2 points
BBI - Walks Issued (Pitchers) -1 point
BS - Blown Saves -5 points
CG - Complete Games 8 points
ER - Earned Runs -1 point
HA - Hits Allowed -1 point
HB - Hit Batsmen -1 point
HD - Holds 5 points
INN - Innings 3 points
K - Strikeouts (Pitcher) 2 points
L - Losses -5 points
NH - No-Hitters 15 points
PG - Perfect Games 25 points
PKO - Pick Offs 2 points
QS - Quality Starts 6 points
S - Saves 5 points
SO - Shutouts 5 points
W - Wins 10 points

With the auto draft turned on, I ended up with a roster of.

Bats
Pujols, Albert 1B STL
Hafner, Travis DH CLE
Berkman, Lance 1B HOU
Martinez, Victor J. C CLE
Drew, J.D. RF BOS
Tracy, Chad 3B ARI
Lopez, Felipe SS WAS
Cuddyer, Michael RF MIN
Cabrera, Orlando SS ANA
Jackson, Conor 1B ARI
Dellucci, David LF CLE
Quentin, Carlos RF ARI
Giles, Marcus 2B SD
Matthews, Gary CF ANA
Gonzalez, Luis E. LF LA
Roberts, Dave LF SF
Green, Shawn RF NYM
Freel, Ryan P. RF CIN

Pitchers
Peavy, Jake SP SD
Arroyo, Bronson SP CIN
Hernandez, Felix SP SEA
Verlander, Justin SP DET
Olsen, Scott SP FLA
Robertson, Nate SP DET
Zumaya, Joel RP DET
Saito, Takashi RP LA
Owings, Micah P ARI

The auto draft only gave me one backup SP and a ton of OFs. I'm trying to work a trade to send a OF or two for a RP. Most teams have a ton of reserve pitchers, mostly SPs, so I may have to go shopping via trade. The top available pitchers via waivers are.

Perez, Oliver SP NYM
Morris, Matt SP SF
Sowers, Jeremy SP CLE
Maholm, Paul SP PIT

Thoughts?

According to Sportsline he's the 5th starter. :-S

edit: Waivers are done. I aquired Jeremy Sowers SP Cle and Justin Duchscherer RP Oak. I ended up dropping Shawn Green and Dave Roberts.

First of all, too many 1B and UTIL. Not sure how many you are allowed to start, but in most formats it's one of each so you'd end up having Berk and Jackson always on your bench. Can't have that. Look to trade one of those guys for some additional speed in your infield and some relief help. I would attempt to move Hafner first because of his limited position flexibility and see what kind of offers you get. Your starting pitching is solid, but hitting depth and saves are what you need most I think.

Good call on Sowers and Duchscherer; I don't think Street will ever have a healthy season. Grab Jonathan Broxton if he's available as well in case something happens with Saito and he's your only closer.

Your infield seemed weak at first, but I Lopez will play 2B this year and Cabrera will be fairly solid at SS in that lineup. Tracey seems a bit weak at 3B, but a lot of people are hyping him up a bit and he could have a breakout season. He could also stink.

It might be good to move an outfielder for another infielder (other than 1B) but, I'm just nitpicking now. For the most part I'd say you filled your immediate need with pitching and dropping Micah Owings (who?!) :-b

Oh, and Omaha's on to something with trying to shop Hafner...you might get something big for him.

Well your top 4 hitters are good but after that it goes downhill fast. Good SP, but you got screwed on the RP. I might try and move a SP for another hitter or a closer.

You didn't protect Hafner which means another team let him go back into the draft which is stupid. Put Berkman at OF and keep Pujols/Hafner as your 1B/Util. V-mart helps. You have a solid ace in Peavy and decent pitching with Felix/Arroyo/Olsen/Verlander. You're not tanked, but you have a lot of sleepers who could pan out like Quentin and Freel. Can you post some more FA's?
