Just Drafted, How did I do?

Postby nbb23 » Tue Mar 27, 2007 9:13 pm

Here is my team:

10 team non keeper H2H
C - B. McCann
1B - D. Lee
2B - J. Barfield
3B - D. Wright
SS - J. Reyes
OF - G. Sizemore; R. Baldelli; N. Markakis
Util - F. Lopez; E. Encarnacion
BN - K. Griffey Jr; A. LaRoche; J. Cantu; J. Edmonds
SP - R. Halladay; J. Lackey; F. Hernandez; D. Haren; J. Patterson; K. Escobar; J. Jennings; J. Francis
RP - F. Rodriguez

Here are the Categories:

Hitters: H/AB R H HR RBI SB BB IBB AVG
Pitchers: IP W CG SHO SV K ERA WHIP

Obviously I dropped the ball on relievers and hopefully an injury occurs or someone is replaced in the beginning of the season so I can pick someone up. Plus I got Cantu late, but will probably drop him.

So, where am I weak? What moves should I make? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the help!

SP is definitely your strength.

I'm not too sure about Cantu and LaRoche (never liked either of them). You have a few injury prone guys to watch out for, and a few guys that may or may not have good years (Baldelli, Barfield)...

Solid catcher, if Lee stays healthy and produces your 1B is set, 3B and SS are gold, OF has definite potential (Sizemore is a great pick)

Bench is kind of thin and you could probably do better for your UTIL spots..

I'd try to move one of your SP's and a guy like Griffey/Edmonds for a top tier RP...or scour the WW - is Lugo available?

Thx for the input and help thus far.

I have dropper Edmonds and picked up the only worthy closer, S. Torres.

Also dropped Cantu (as it sounds like he will platoon) and picked up Teahan (think he could have a great year and will soon have position flexibility).

I have been offered the following trade as well:

J. Lackey FOR J. Papelbon

Personally I think it is too much to give up especially since there are concerns over Paps shoulder. So, is this a good trade? If not, what should I counter with (I was thinking countering with J. Patterson, but is that not giving up enough on my end)?

GREAT front end of the rotation, i would hold on to lackey. i love the barfield pick at 2B, i think he breaks out this season.

that gives you two closers, just keep your eyes out for early season changes. then i'd say jennings or francis are expendable

Yeah, I want to hold onto Lackey especially since there are some uncertanties regarding Paps elbow and if he will be able to go the whole year. Obviously I don't think he will be able to match the numbers he put up last year either. Is there a good counter offer for Papelbon I should offer?

I like the potential of Barfield and think this could be a break out year for him, but I have some protection once Lopez becomes eligible at 2B.

I agree that my SP is solid and I feel great about C, 1B, 3B, SS. I think I need to try to improve my OF (any suggestions?) and Util. Plus I plan to keep a close eye on the closer situations to try to pick up some RP help unless I can swing a trade for Paps without giving up too much.
