Just drafted. Please rate my team (points league)

Postby Grizzlies » Tue Mar 27, 2007 8:27 pm

I just finished my draft. I had the 9th pick in a 10-team total points league.

We start 1-C, 1-1B, 1-2B, 1-3B, 1-SS, 3-OF, 1-UTIL, 3-SP, 2-RP
Stat categories (and points) are: R (1), 1B (1), 2B (2), 3B (3), HR (4), RBI (1), SB (2), BB (1), IBB (1), HBP (1), IP (1), W (10), CG (6), SHO (10), SV (6), K (1), HLD (4)

Here's my team:
C - Michael Barrett
1B - Jason Giambi, Todd Helton
2B - Josh Barfield
3B - Miguel Cabrera, Mark Teahen
SS - Jimmy Rollins
OF - Manny Ramírez, Hideki Matsui, Johnny Damon, Michael Cuddyer(1B,OF)
SP - Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels, Barry Zito, Rich Harden, Ervin Santana, Andy Pettitte
RP - Billy Wagner, Tom Gordon, José Valverde

What are my chances, and where do I need improvement? I didn't intend to pick Valverde. I got distracted, missed my pick and the computer chose him. Anybody I should cut loose?

Batters available on waivers include:
Melvin Mora, Coco Crisp, Orlando Cabrera, Ray Durham, Marcus Giles, Bobby Crosby, Chad Tracy, Austin Kearns, Jason Varitek, Craig Biggio, Curtis Granderson, Brad Hawpe, Barry Bonds, Orlando Hudson, Chris Duffy, Brian Giles, Plácido Polanco, Brad Wilkerson, Shea Hillenbrand, Dave Roberts, Juan Rivera, Conor Jackson, Russell Martin, Brandon Inge

Pitchers available on waivers include:
Joe Borowski, Octavio Dotel, Kerry Wood, Noah Lowry, Jon Garland, John Patterson, José Contreras, Mike González, Akinori Otsuka, Kelvim Escobar, Cliff Lee, Mark Buehrle, Adam Wainwright, Greg Maddux, Brad Penny, Zach Duke, Tim Hudson, Mark Mulder, Jake Westbrook, Scot Shields, Nate Robertson

if you didn't mean to get valverde i'd look for a solid set-up guy. scott shields, dan wheeler, zumya, bronxton, mike gonzlez or the guy from oakland that's spelled funny are good choices if they are avaiable.

help me out

For HLDS. Look at teams that will win alot of games. Shields would be perfect. He was amongst the league leaders last season in this category. Otsuka has closer stuff that will be in a setup role this season, but I'm not sure how often the Rangers will have the lead...

So which 3 of these RP should I keep, keeping our scoring system in mind? Because it's total points, ERA and WHIP don't matter. What counts the most is wins, saves, holds, and K's.

Wagner, Gordon, Valverde, Shields, Otsuka

I don't really see anybody else on my roster I want to drop, so I would probably only keep 3 of these guys.
