Position eligibility problem with Sportsline

Postby Midgetoe » Tue Mar 27, 2007 3:17 pm

This is our first year with CBS. After multiple posts to their "help" center I give up (they're ignoring me) and hope the gurus here have an answer.

For position eligibility our league uses minimum 20 games at position last year or 1 game at position this year.

Question is best explained with an example:

Last year, Wilson Betemit played 18 games at SS and 10 games at 2nd base. Sportsline does not have him eligible for either 2B or SS which is correct, but they do have him qualifying as a middle infielder because technically he had 28 games as a middle infielder. Our league does not work this way. He should qualify at 3B only (79 games at 3B last year).

This is a big problem and will affect corner infielders as well. Is there any way to configure this properly?

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!
P.S. Does CBS Sportsline have a phone number for support???

Probably not what you want to hear, but you can manually change player eligibilities.

Here's an answer to my own question:

I created a spreadsheet (not elegant, but effective) that shows that only 11 players are affected by the CI / MI issue.

If everyone respects the correct placement of these 11 players we should not have an issue.

Not eligible at CI:
Cairo, Miguel - CI
Hernandez, Jose - CI
Hinske, Eric - CI

Not eligible at MI
Aybar, Erick - MI
Betemit, Wilson - MI
Bloomquist, Will - MI
Fahey, Brandon - MI
Gomez, Chris - MI
Hernandez, Anderson - MI
Jackson, Damian - MI

I hear you about these Sportsline eligibility issues. Our league uses an INF position (CI/MI). Unfortunately, Sportsline doesn't have this position.

I think you could get around this problem by (1) setting the Active Min for 1B, 2B, 3B and SS to 1, (2) set the Active Max to 2, and (3) put the Active Players to a number such that you can only have 1 extra infielder active.

I've never tried that, but I think it would work.

That would work as long as the rules were set for maximum hitters and maximum batters on the active lineup. Unfortunately, the rules are set for maximum PLAYERS on the active lineup.

We use 17 active PLAYERS in the lineup, 7 of those are pitchers and 10 of them are hitters.

With the rule you suggested, a team can elect to have an extra pitcher instead of an extra INF. Trust me, I tried...
