Sure, Cruz Jr. at 3 million isn't a bad deal. But my question is: why the d-rays? They've got a good, young outfield. Hamilton, Crawford, Baldelli. Throw in the fact that they put Huff out there occasionally and this move makes no sense. Maybe one of you devil rays fans can explain this to me.
YES!! I remember Cruz in April cuz I owned him for that month. He was arguably the best offensive player!!
I dealt him and Derrick Lee (who had like over half his steals in April) for Maddux, Brett Myers and Sean Casey.....Myers ended up helping me net Todd Helton in my keeper league.
Cruz is garbage. At $3 million, he isn't the worst pick up in the world...though they shoulda saved that $3 million to help go after some pitching.
the mets are spending 6-7 million a year for a guy that can only play defense. the d-rays get a good fielder (except for bobbles in the post-season) who still has the abiltity to produce some offense in that lineup.
I'd prefer Cameron patrolling CF than having Cruz in RF -- CF is a much more difficult defensive position to fill.
There's no difference between them offensively. If anything, Cameron is the better option -- with added speed. Despite the fact Cruz played in a great hitter's ballpark in Toronto 2 of the last 3 years -- there 3 year averages are pretty similar.
I'd take Cameron over Cruz fairly easily because with any championship squad....you gotta be strong defensively in the middle. Helps make up for any weaknesses in Left and Right.
the mets still have a lot of needs though, and cruz will make 4 million less a year than cameron. they could fill another hole with that money, but it is the mets so they would probably blow it anyways.
Thank goodness my Rangers were not the ones to make that move.
That's awful.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

To Cruz's credit, when he tripped on the turf out there it wasn't really his fault. And if he only makes those kind of mistakes in the Playoffs, the D'Rays have nothing to worry about for a looooooong time.
