NEW ORLEANS -- The tug-of-war between the Mets and the A's over Mike Cameron continued into Friday night at the Winter Meetings with neither side seeming to have the immediate advantage.
Though it would appear that Oakland would be the more attractive destination based on the reported length of the deal -- four years -- and the fact the club has been a playoff team the last four seasons, Cameron said the Mets were still very much a viable choice.
"[New York] has its reasons for being a favorite," said Cameron, who lives in Georgia. "Because of being on the East Coast and what it presents, it's definitely a different challenge. New York is the challenge of everyone's life. I can play anywhere, but a lot depends on my family."
Cameron added that New York sticking to a three-year offer wouldn't be an obstacle and that he hopes to have a decision made if not by the end of the weekend then definitely by the first of next week.
