Solid Core but Big Weaknesses

Postby Cee Rud » Mon Mar 26, 2007 11:08 am

I like Nomar, but that's in my league where we draft 1B, CI and 2 DH spots. In such a shallow league, you need a big bat at 1B. I love the rest of your infield though. Martin's risky but has big upside. Don't overvalue his potential for steals at catcher though because you already have Pierre, Bay, Weeks and even Guillen producing there for you. You might be better off getting a more reliable catcher with some power. Alou's a surprise at your sole DH spot, I'd imagine there's a better alternative there too.

Consider trading Martin and Thome if they can get you an improvement at 1B but they're not bad players to wait out and see what happens. Also consider dealing Pierre later in the season. SB studs always have value and if you can build a lead you'll probably still be able to compete with your other SB producers.

I like your pitching but you've got lots of unproven talent. Huge upside though but Lackey's really your only proven ace, followed not too far by Cain, but he's certainly not proven. Everyone loves finding a hidden gem, but you don't want your entire roster to be risky. Consider dealing some of these guys for an ace.

I agree with Nomar, but it might be easier to move Berk to first and trade for another OF. I'm not an E Santana fan, but your pitchers are all solid and you don't have any that should hurt you, so I think you can afford not to make a m ove there

I agree that you should find replacement for Alou, and I can't see Thome putting up the same numbers as last year. I know his DH helped last year, but there's gotta be an end in sight for him.

You have too many middle relievers. They are not worth wasting a spot on unless you are pretty damn sure they'll get the chance to close. I would be more comfortable playing drop/add from the FA based on upcoming SP matchups. (Unless your league gives points for Holds.)

You also have two SPs (Young and Wainwright) who are essentially question marks. Keep an eye on them, drop and add someone else if necessary.

very good hitting. pitchers are also good, but some risk-reward guys in cain, hill, wainright. if all play the way they are capable of this should be a very good team. having broxton and zumaya is a pretty savy move cuz i envision one or both stepping into the closer role this season.

i liek your team. very solid. even without a big stud in your rotation you have some guys who can become one this year and have good depth all the way down to 5, and zumaya and broxton should combine to form a borderline number 1 or 2 starter. offense is very balanced with nice mix of power and speed. Two stud closers, i like it. nice job

i would def pick up a gonzolez and probably start him over nomar to be honest, but ifd you liek nomar gonzo is must have for insurance.

Please help with mine

I don't like the offense. Too many questions in it. Catcher, 1st, and 2nd could use an improvement. Alou is not a good backup on the bench.

Pitching looks good. If any of the bench starters come out strong, try and package them for an upgrade at above positions.
