My Keeper Draft: 6 keepers, 10 team, 5x5 Yahoo

I just got finished with my 10 man keeper draft. I think I did alright, but I didn't do too much for balance. My relief is DEFINATELY hurting, but I figure that I can sit on waivers and pick up a few cheap saves.

I'm thinking of trying some sort of trade for a reliever. My offensive bench is stacked but relatively unmarketable (outside of Posada). A few of my bullpen horses could prove desposable as well. I guess I'm hoping they come out of the gates hot so I can dump 'em on someone for some value.

Any thoughts on quick pick ups? I'd be looking at relief mostly.

Get rid of Freel. I hate the guy. A crappy utility player who doesn't hit for anything, and will net you about twenty steals will killing everything else.

Search the waivers for a good ratio reliever who may get the closer job down the line. Broxton, Sheilds, Rodney/Zumaya; one of those guys has to be on the waivers since it's a ten team league. Drop Freel for that guy.

I dropped Freel for Rich Aurillia (more eligibility and better all around stats) and have been looking closely at the D-Rays & Marlins relief situation.

I also sent a trade proposal to see if I get a bite:

Atkins & Halladay for K-Rod & Carpenter

He is seriously lacking power, and has Eric Chavez at third. The trade nets him at least 30 RBI, 5-10 dingers, 30 runs, and 60-70 avg points at third. I don't know if he'll even consider it, but it's a start for negotiations at least.

I have Zims as a backup playing Util and Helton sitting on the bench so it's not too big of a loss to lose Atkins. Thoughts?

See if Hermanson is available in your league. He's slated to be Cincy's closer so you might be able to land a closer without giving up anyone on your team. Otherwise, package Posada and a pitcher to get a decent closer.

sorry, but your on crack if you think atkins has any value anymore. chavez has better stats across the board right now.

drafting him in the 7th round was a massive MASSIVE mistake. that being said, you probably cant do anything but hang onto him for until he shows some signs of life.

you might be able to grab accardo for some cheap saves in toronto or Gregg in Florida though.
