The All Rookie Team ...

OK - these seem to be popular, so I thought I would do one for players who still have rookie status and should make an impact in 2003 at the major leahue level - here goes:

C - Miguel Olivo/Victor Martinez
1B - Hee Seop Choi/Lyle Overbay
2B - Brandon Phillips/Joe Thurston
SS - Jose Reyes/Wilson Betemit
3B - Hank Blalock/Mark Texiera
OF - Tony Alvarez/Joe Borchard/Rocco Baldelli
SP - Jon Rauch/Dewon Brazelton/Jesse Foppert/Cliff Lee/Aaron Heilman
MR - Joe Borowski/eremy Hill/Duaner Sanchez
RP - Franklyn German/Mike Macdougal

I keep forgetting about him because, well - HE'S NOT A ROOKIE! At least in my mind. That and I HATE the Yankees ...

Marlon Byrd, OF (Philadelphia Phillies) - Here is a guy who will compete for Rookie Of The Year, and will quickly make Phillies’ fans forget Doug Glanville. He’s a lock at starting in centerfield on opening day. He’s got power and speed, and probably will bat 6th or 7th in the lineup. Think .280, 20-20 with 60-80 RBIs.

Travis Hafner (Cleveland Indians - 1B) - He’s the guy slated to replace Thome at first base. He was a top prospect in Texas, but was not going to get a chance to play. In Cleveland, he’s the man. His AAA numbers were remarkable, showing a .342, 21hr, 77rbi, 79 run season in 401 ABs. He could end up a 3-4-5 hitter for the Indians this season.

Michael Cuddyer (Minnesota Twins - OF) - This guy has been chomping at the bit for a shot at the majors. He got a taste of it last season and is ready to do a lot more. He should have a legit shot to steal a job this spring. If he gets to play everyday, he could be a Rookie Of The Year contender. His AAA numbers last season – .309, 20hr, 12 SB, 53rbi – suggest he has all 5 tools.

hope this helps...

Isn't Patterson of the D-backs still considered a rookie? If so he needs to be listed in that SP rotation.
