Akinori Iwamura 2nd base eligibility?

Postby ELsolly » Sun Mar 25, 2007 10:51 pm

I drafted Akinori Iwamura as an extra IF but read somwhere he played 2b last year.

Does anyone know how many games he played at 2nd base in 2006 - and could you please leabve a link to find it.

thanks

He didn't play any games in the MLB last year; he's fresh from Japan this year, and I do not believe he will gain 2b eligibility.

My understanding is that while it's thought he can play 2B, he never actually played the position in Japan.

I guess he'll move to second when Evan Longoria gets called up.... but I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen this year.

I heard he's going to fill holes everywhere for TB. He should gain 2B and OF elig.

It will likely take a trade, an injury, and at least 1 callup for Iwamura to get 2B eligibilty.

Longoria's already a 3B I thought..... I was talking about Iwamura moving to second when the time comes, not Longoria.

It looks like Cantu maybe cut/traded for Upton to play 2B. Aki is going to play 3B not 2B. Aki hasn't played 2B at all in ST. Longoria already is playing 3B, but he can also play SS, 2B so no one is sure where he will go. Aki is the better defensive 3B, so if he does play well, Evan may move to 2B.
