Do you think Jim Thome Will Earn 1st Base Eligibility?

Thome currently has UTI eligibility only in Yahoo leagues. I also think it only takes 3 starts at a position to earn eligibility there. What are the chances Thome can get 3 starts at 1B? And if you do think he will; do you think it will be very deep into the seaon by the time he does?

I think he only got 3 starts there all last season; was that due to any type of lingering injury? If the current starting 1B get injured, would Thome take over or would CHI keep him at DH and start someone else at 1B? Etc.

It is possible when interleague play starts. The lack of starts at 1b had nothing to do with any specific injuries/problems that he doesnt have this year. If i remember correctly, Konerko and Thome switched off playing 1B during interleague play.

I don't hink the Sox want Thome playing fulltime 1B. Erstad will be the 1B if Konerko got hurt. If you can wait he might get 3 starts at first once interleague starts.

Actually, last year Thome got almost no starts during interleague play. They chose to sit him instead of starting him. I wouldnt expect 1B eligibility from him this year unless Konerko is down for a significant amount of time and Thome fills in for Erstad on occasion.

Living in chicago, I'd say theres pretty much no way in hell he gets 1B. Which is sad because I own him in a lot of leagues.

i expect thome to be rested more this yr. towards the end of the year last season they sat him quite a bit.

I agree. Thome doesn't offer much defensive value, and he's only going to increase the chances of getting hurt while playing the field. I hope the Sox are smart enough not to play him there. His bat is too valuable for the risk.
