what the hell happened to the Mets .... I guess he wasn't old enough or past his prime yet .....

If I were playing third base and my mother were rounding third with the run that was going to beat us, I'd trip her. Oh, I'd pick her up and brush her off and say, 'Sorry, Mom,' but nobody beats me.

Why does everyone like Batista so much. I have him for $5 in my keeper league and I'm not thinking about keeping him. He really pitched quite poorly toward the end of the season.

he put up good numbers, especially for being in a hitters park, with no run support

exactly, Miguel Batista is not an impact pitcher like a Prior, but he is a very solid pitcher to have on your staff. He basically performs across the board.. which if I remember right is exactly what you want from a fantasy player .. a 3.5 ERA ... a 1.33 ratio ... a .267 BAA ... A telling stat with Miguel ... 902 career innings ... 903 career hits ...
he could have verily easily won 15-18 last year .... Looking back at his'03 game log he has at least 5 games where he gave up 1 or less ER's and got the loss or a no Decision ....

Um, take a look at what my Rangers call a starting rotation.
I'd be very happy to have a reliable starter on the Rangers. Unfortunately, he went to Toronto.

Nice signing by the Blue Jays -- I thought Atlanta would make a run at him before getting Thomson.
I don't think his value goes up a whole lot switching from the NL to AL. Only difference is he'll get consistent work.
Projection: 4.30 ERA 13 wins. I believe IF they get a #2 starter outta their rotation, it'll be Lilly.

I agree with a previous poster here, AZ should of kept Batista vs. possibly spending more for Maddux. And there's no way in hell I'm giving Maddux more than a 2-year deal after his numerous implodes during last year.
this bites by the way, I just want ya to know that madison ... WTF is wrong with the Mets. Cant they do anything right? Geesh. And Zona? Why wouldn't JC Step up either .. I mean comeon ... They had,
RJ
Curt
Webb
Batista ...
All they needed was one bat. One! Just one fricking bat! Hell, Pittsburgh showed last year that if you are patient, you can one cheap. Just wait till the spring. Nope, instead JC shredded that starting staff, and gutted the team for what? Fossum and the Big Sexy? Please ... Actually ....
If Ritchie doesn't sign ... JC deserves to be fired. IMO
