Sounds like a "Yankees are paying 99% of Weaver's salary just so we can get Brown" kinda deal.
Even though Thomas seemed to become a better hitter when he was playing the field, I think the Sox preferred Konerko there. So....I dunno....maybe this could be legit.
The Yankees would almost have to go after Brown if they don't get Pettite.

True and the Sox are looking to unload some salary (see the Maggs or Carlos Lee rumors). Maybe there is a chance of it happening. Hopefully it will get clearer tomorrow.
