The Red Sox yesterday improved their offer to free agent Keith Foulke, according to the Boston Globe. The terms of the new offer weren't revealed. It's believed their previous offer was worth $26 million over four years, with the final year a team option that would kick in automatically if he pitched a certain number of innings in 2006. Foulke could decide between the A's and Red Sox today.
I'm guessing he at least has a 4 year, $28+ million deal on the table from the Sox, which would put him in the $7mill/year range, which seems about right for a closer. Foulke, you've got your damn money, now make your decision already.
Also, I read that Mike Cameron is an interest of the A's. Is he the big bat that Foulke might be waiting for? I hope not.. it's *Mike Cameron*.
