Carlos Ruiz

Any chance Carlos Ruiz will get any chance to shine with Rod Barajas in front of him? The signing puzzles me since Ruiz is still relatively a young and promising prospect (young in terms of catcher prospect). He raked last year at AAA and seemed to do ok at the big league level. Any word on this situation, is it a split with Barajas getting the majority of PT? I can't help but look at the stats and see a little Victor Martinez. I am a Victor owner and would love to take advantage of the fact that he is one of a very few solid contributing catchers and deal him if I could find an adequate replacement.

im sure they'll split time, but barajas should get the majority of the starts. dont forget about chris coste either. he should steal alittle bit of playing time as well. i dont think the comparison of victor martinez is accurate at all.

I'm a big phillies fan. Ruiz is going to split with Barajas. To start the year Barajas will get more playing than Ruiz. Coste might not make the team he is in a battle with several other players for a spot (Dobbs, Nunez, ect). The Phillies also have other young catchers such as Lou Marson and Jason Jaramillo so the long term on ruiz might not be good either.
