I agree that they are probably just trying to make other teams overpay.

Is it like bidding? Can a team retract an offer?

yeah a team can take an offer off the table which is probably wut the As will do if cameron seems like hes gonna sign with them.. i really dont see them offerin cameron that kind of money and being serious about getting him.. and as said before same goes for foulke.. this is how beane works.. he just drives up the prices so other teams overspend and then he can go after guys he really wants for cheaper when teams have hit their limits

I really hope Cameron doesn't become a Met. We don't need role players. Go out and get someone who will be here and be good in 2005. The Mets don't have a chance this year. Give Reyes some seasoning. Another year with Matsui. Let the kids grow up. Save the money for the big FA class of 2004-05.

Its a good plan, the 2005 FA class will be huge ...

But its the Mets now, Come on ... where would baseball be if the Mets weren't throwing money around ... Its not like they are going after Estes or anything .. Cameron is solid ... He'll suck in shea, but doesn't everyone ...

A team can retract an offer untill they have signed a contract...

Yep, the team can pull the offer anytime they want as long as it isn't signed.

Oh man, if the A's signed Cameron I would be a very happy camper.

Oh well. :~(

How could Beane sign Cameron? He'd go ballistic with every four strikeout game.

Great fielder, though.
