Red Sox Rotation?

Postby mak1277 » Thu Mar 22, 2007 11:10 am

Does anyone know what the Red Sox rotation is going to look like for the opening series against KC? I have a buddy with tickets to game three of the series and he was wondering if Dice-K would be the #2 or #3 starter?

Looks like he'll be the SP for the April 5th game (not sure if that makes him #2 or #3.

AP Story:

Matsuzaka is scheduled to throw about 90 pitches Monday against Cincinnati and about 60 in the final preseason game March 31 at Philadelphia.

Then the Kansas City Royals will try to hit him when he starts his first regular-season game April 5.

"Everything you talk about pitching, that's what he does," Francona said. "And he can throw the fastball by you when he wants to."

Speaking of the Red Sox rotation, does anyone think that not having a lefty in the starting rotation, and only two in the pen will hurt them at all this season?

I believe it is

1: Schilling
2: Beckett
3: Matsuzaka
4: Papelbon
5: Wakefield

I think the pen situation may hurt more. The Sox rotation is pretty solid (especially with Lester ready) even without a lefty.

The past few years the Angels have been pretty leftyless and it hasn't done them too unjustly, then again they don't have the Yankees in their division, but outside the Yankees I don't see it being too prominant a factor.
