Not sure how much of a surprise this is but the Royals named Gordon their starting 3B. Obviously, this bumps up his fantasy value. I just picked him up off of the waiver wire.

There's also a strong possibility that he opens the year hitting 5th in the order. ;-D

That would be gravy...... ;-D

Where did you get this information? I thought 6th or 7th would be his batting slot. I got him in a keeper draft, hopefully you are right,

thanks

From Rotowire:

Gordon has officially been named the Opening Day starter at third base, the Royals' official site reports.

The big surprise is that he'll likely hit fifth in the lineup, rather than lower down, as initially expected. "Early in spring, I was probably leaning more towards the bottom of the lineup, but right now, he is inching closer to the fifth spot," manager Buddy Bell said. "I don't know that for sure, but right now, I don't see why not. He looks OK there. I don't think there are a whole lot of things that affect the kid. That's one reason why he is probably such a good player at this point, so early in his career."

So what round would it be reasonable to draft him now??
Also.....would you drop Freel for him??

As far as what round...that depends on a lot of factors including league depth, your own tolerance for risk, personal preference, etc. I had Gordon for 0.290/21.0/84.0/80.3/12.0 and I'd say that this news probably gives him 3-4 more home runs (since my projections discounted his playing time a bit and had him at the bottom of the order) as well as quite a few more rbi's (maybe even in the 95-100 range).

And yes, I'd definitely drop Freel if he's your weakest player.

in my opinion - there's a good chance he's hitting 2-4 in the line up by may. he's going to light it up. in fact, he already is in spring

I need my keeper auction to hurry up and start 'cause the hype is spreading like a brushfire (the auction is tomorrow!!!). I'm hoping most people in my league haven't caught wind of it yet... I'm sure at least a couple have, though.

Yeah, I guarantee everyone knows who Gordon is by now. He's definitely on everyone's radar, at least somewhere.
